Boots is a 4½-year-old, 29-pound sweetheart who is ready to leave her past behind and find the loving forever family she deserves. This adorable girl is spayed, fully vetted, and housebroken, so she is ready to settle into her new home.

Boots has a few physical reminders of the neglect she experienced earlier in life. She is missing some of her front teeth and has a few scars, but her skin has healed beautifully and is nearly fully recovered. She has good teeth otherwise and does not require a special diet or any special care.

What Boots may have been through in the past certainly hasn’t taken away her wonderful personality! She is a happy, energetic, friendly, affectionate, and playful little girl who is always ready to share her love. Boots absolutely adores kisses and cuddles and is happiest when she is surrounded by people or other dogs.

Boots enjoys being part of a pack and would likely love a home with canine companionship, though she also loves spending time with her people. She enjoys her toys and has a playful, fun-loving personality. And like many hounds, Boots is highly food motivated.

Boots is a true hound through and through when she is outside. She does pull on walks and will happily follow her nose wherever an interesting scent may lead her. For that reason, she will need an adopter who understands the curious nature of scent hounds and is committed to keeping her safely supervised. A securely fenced yard would be ideal so Boots can safely explore and enjoy all the wonderful smells the world has to offer.

And speaking of smells—Boots may look like all Basset Hound, but she might have a little Beagle mixed in there somewhere! If she catches the scent of a rabbit, don’t be surprised if this sweet girl suddenly finds her voice and makes quite a ruckus. Her enthusiasm for following a good scent is just part of her charming hound personality!
