Hattie

Meet Hattie, a 10-month-old girl with a joyful spirit, an adventurous nose, and a whole lot of personality packed into her petite frame.

Hattie is exceptionally affectionate and firmly believes there is no such thing as too many cuddles or kisses. She delights in being close to her people and will happily soak up every bit of love and attention offered to her. She is sweet, crate-trained, and extremely food-motivated. If treats are involved, she is ready to learn!

She is excellent with other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine friend for playtime. She is also great with cats. She is curious and may want to sniff them or occasionally see if they are up for a quick game of chase, but our cats have had no trouble explaining the house rules and putting her firmly in her place.

She loves toys, almost understands fetch, and enjoys running through the yard with complete abandon and absolutely no concern for aerodynamics. She is still working on housetraining and has a particular appreciation for shoes, which she believes are simply expensive chew toys placed throughout the house for her convenience.

Like any good hound, Hattie is happiest when exuberantly following her nose, even when it leads her directly into trouble. Her recall is currently more of a polite suggestion, so we are working with her and a training collar. She has also discovered how to squeeze beneath our fence, although she has not yet mastered the return trip. For this reason, Hattie will absolutely require a securely fenced yard and careful supervision while outside.

Hattie is an affectionate, energetic little girl who will thrive with a family ready to continue her training, laugh at her puppy antics, and accept all the cuddles and kisses she has to give. She may always be petite for a basset, but her personality and capacity for love are anything but small.
